Our Top 4 Sydney Harbour Events
Everyone loves a good shindig, whether it be to celebrate a public holiday, a friends birthday or just because! In Sydney, we’re lucky enough to have a beautiful Harbour which makes the PERFECT backdrop for some of our favourite events of the year..
Here are our top 4 Sydney Harbour Events that you can celebrate on Sydney Harbour!
Australia Day
One of my favourite days of the year on Sydney Harbour is by far Australia Day. Dressing up in your silly hats and clothes, making sure every part of visible skin is covered with an Aussie flag tattoo and of course pumping out Triple J’s Hottest 100!
There is so much going on on the Harbour throughout the day. You can sit under the Harbour Bridge and watch the beautiful show that the Tugboat Ballerina’s put on while planes are flying overhead, watch the Ferry Race, Tall Ship race and P&O cruise ships plotted all around the Harbour with singers performing and people partying. The Navy ships are all out part of the action with exclusive parties onboard. Check out DJs dotted around the Harbour playing all of your favourite Aussie classics and to top off an awesome day, Sydney will give you very pretty fireworks to end another fantastic Australia Day! Thinking of hiring Rockfish for a private cruise on Aussie day? Get in quick!!
HarbourLife Festival
In my opinion, THE best way to experience this festival. We’ll cruise right up to Mrs Macquaries Point to find the perfect spot to listen to the music pumping and to watch the party goers in action! Can you get much better than that? Yes you can. We’ll cruise to the best spot in the house so you can enjoy awesome views of Sydney Harbour Bridge and the Opera House as you party.
You’ll beat the crowds, enjoy your own private party with your besties and better yet – no queuing for drinks!! Anchoring up with the epic sounds of the speakers and a beautiful Sydney backdrop really gives you the best HarbourLife experience. Seeing HarbourLife on the Harbour side is something you have to do!
Boxing Day
Another super busy day for the boating industry is Boxing Day as we have the famous Sydney to Hobart race. Nothing beats the intense start of the race as people watch on to see all of the beautifully done up yachts pushing each other in the nicest way possible to get the best start in the race!
It’s crazy watching these massive boats almost run into each other as they all want to be first out of the heads. They are all professionals and know what they are doing but the close calls they make are pretty intense to watch! Joining all of the spectators for the best view for that start is awesome and being able to spend the rest of the day at your favourite Sydney Harbour beach just puts the cherry on top.
New Year’s Eve
New Year’s Eve: There’s no arguing that the best way to bring in the New Year is by watching the famous Sydney fireworks over the harbour! You can’t beat getting together with your mates and celebrating with a few bevvys on Sydney Harbour. Seeing the fireworks from the water is something everyone should experience once (but why stop there?! 😉 Hundreds of boats moor up on the water to get the best view of the Sydney Harbour bridge ready for midnight! Some boats even stay there for a few days to ensure they have the best spot!
There is a lot to take in on the Harbour with planes performing, fancy boats with all of their pretty lights on and the view of the Harbour Bridge. Watching the fireworks from the water is awesome! You have the show of the Bridge, all of the places along Harbour side and firework barges pretty close to the boats – you won’t know where to look! And the sound? Just the best!
